Bhimbetka – Where History Meets the Stone Age

A UNESCO World Heritage Site, Bhimbetka Rock Shelters stand as one of the most remarkable windows into prehistoric human life. Located around 230 km from Indore, near Bhopal, Bhimbetka is home to over 700 rock shelters featuring ancient cave paintings that date back more than 30,000 years.

These fascinating artworks depict scenes of daily life, hunting, dancing, and rituals — offering a vivid glimpse into early human civilization. The name Bhimbetka is derived from Bhima, one of the Pandavas from the Mahabharata, as local legends believe the giant hero once rested here.
